Roadside cleanup shows Southside pride for sixth straight year

ISLIP, NY —

For the sixth year in a row, Southside Hospital employees worked alongside Keep Islip Clean and local business and community volunteers to pick up debris in an area near the Southern State Parkway in Islip to commemorate Earth Day.

About 60 participants from the hospital and volunteers through Keep Islip Clean, a local ecological group, collected trash at Spur Drive South and Illinois Avenue in Islip on April 24.

Volunteers from PSE&G, Adecco, Hertz, Covanta and local high schools helped pick up 45 bags of trash.

Commitment to the Community

Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter, who was on hand, commended the volunteers for their work.

“I appreciate everyone from Southside Hospital, Keep Islip Clean and other community groups and businesses who participated in our annual clean up event,” said Donna Moravick, NP, executive director of Southside Hospital.

"This clean up demonstrates that we take being a community member very seriously in the Bay Shore, Islip and surrounding areas,” she said.
